Police rushed to the Benedictine Sisters Monastery in Jarosław, southeastern Poland, around 9.30am on a Thursday following reports of a violent assault. Five individuals suffered stab wounds during the incident, which unfolded near the complex's church cafeteria and the historic Church of St Nicholas and St Stanislaus the Bishop.
Among the victims were three members of the clergy and two laypeople. One of the priests, identified as Stanisław Zbojnowicz, died from a severe stab wound to the chest. Another priest, Marek Pieńkowski, underwent emergency surgery after suffering multiple stab wounds to his chest and lower extremities. Officials confirmed that two of the injured victims were left in critical, life-threatening condition.
